Abortion Care Education for Advanced Practice Providers (ACE-APP) is an abortion education and training program based at UCSF School of Nursing. We host in-person workshops in abortion care, especially for nurse practitioners (NPs), certified nurse midwives (CNMs), and physician associates (PAs) and offer a self-paced, modular online Continuing Education (CE) course in abortion care. Our team has trained hundreds of learners across disciplines including NPs, CNMs, PAs, registered nurses, licensed midwives, doulas, and physicians. We are part of the Reproductive Health Service Corps, a statewide training initiative in California to develop and strengthen training pathways for the entire healthcare team. 

Abortion training by APPs for APPs 

We know how hard it is for APPs to find opportunities for abortion training. ACE-APP is part of a growing effort in California and nationwide to expand full-scope reproductive health training opportunities across the health workforce pipeline. We have successfully integrated medication and procedural abortion training content in the BSN Entry-to-DNP program at UCSF School Of Nursing, offer in-person workshops, and will launch an online continuing education certificate program (coming soon).
